Chilean Cheese Toast
(serves 1 as a snack, double for breakfast)
Toast a slice of sturdy sandwich bread. Don't use something with lots of holes because you are going to spread the avocado on it. Hole-y bread leaks. :-) Slice half of an avocado. When the bread is toasted, spread the slices all over the toast. Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with a little shredded mozzarella cheese. Broil until cheese is melted. Garnish with hot sauce if desired. Stare longingly at the picture of the Andes as you enjoy.
Hi I'm chilean, and that toast it really a dont chilean preparation, please dont called in that way. here nobody eats melted cheese whit avocado, it simply dont match, here people eat that combination whitout melt the cheese, and is not a popular one, a lot of people doesnt like it, is more common whit jamm or stuff like that. Bye!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely my interpretation of cheese toast, inspired by my trip to Chile. My husband's family, Chileans all, definitely enjoyed palta on toast with some fresh cheese every morning. No, they didn't melt it, but melted cheese is more popular than not-melted cheese here in the US.
